You are absolutely right, Ben; we need to recognize how the destruction of our country's values is affecting the mental health of all of us. And, yes, we need to create a movement to fight back. I only wish I could visualize what it would look like...
"Great blog! Your subtitle, ‘What comes next is up to us,’ truly resonates. But do we even know where to begin? How do we “start asking what it would take to build a society that supports human flourishing and well-being”? The answers may not be simple, but the conversation is essential."
"Maybe if the world weren’t already so heavy, it wouldn’t have landed so hard. But everything is already so much."
This resonates with me deeply. As if the volume on life has suddenly been turned up to a painful and inaudible level. And yet sometimes I look around and see people acting as if everything's fine, and I want to yell, "Isn't this hurting your ears as well?!!!" Thanks for the lovely post.
Thank you for the comment - during times like these it feels that we have to point out the obvious while we simultaneously take care of ourselves! Writing, at least for me, is one of my healthy outlets.
great piece, sent to FB, LI, and X

Just really powerful -- it is systemic and it is the issue of our time. Thank you.
"And at the core of all of that? Mental health."
Once people with dangerous mental health issues were locked away in asylums. Which is a far better option than letting them run a democratic country.
